6 Weight Fly Rods
Outside of the five-weight, the six-weight fly rod is maybe the best bet if you’re looking for a do-it-all fly rod—and some anglers may put it at the top. It’s a medium-weight rod, leaning a little bit more powerful, which opens up a whole world of possibilities. With a six-weight, you’ll still have a blast targeting any of the trout species, but it also has enough backbone and power to start throwing bigger flies for fish like smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, carp, and even some pike in the right scenario. In short, it’s a great rod and essential for any angler’s quiver.
We offer two different models in six-weight. Our Drifter series is the perfect balance of quality and approachability, a great option for any angler, and a step above any “beginner” rods. Next, our Vesper rod is unmatched in quality and performance, with some of the best materials on the market and guide-quality action and durability. It’ll last a lifetime. One notable difference between the two models: Our six-weight Drifter rods do not have a fighting butt, while our Vesper rods do have a fighting butt. You may want a fighting butt if you’re planning to target larger fish or go without if you’re looking for a sleeker look.
Regardless of which rod you choose, our six-weight rods are built to the highest standards—distinctive styles inspired by classic design, custom reel seats made with unique burled hardwoods, hand-turned cork grips, and more. Each of our six-weight rods is the perfect balance of value and craftsmanship, proof that you don’t need to shell out for a second mortgage to have a great day on the water. If you have a question about which rod weight is right for you, or which model fits your needs, be sure to reach out to us at info@moonshinerods.com. Cheers to tight lines and we’ll see you out there.
