I have always used the sage XP 3wt and a Sage XP 5wt. They are wonderful fly rods. Some one stole my 5 wt recently so I decided to look around for a replacement. I have a Sage RPL 5 wt but I’m not crazy about it. I read up on the Vesper series and was impressed with the reviews on YouTube. The rod is light, good looking and came with an extra Tip. It’s probably not quite as fast as my Sage XP’s but it is plenty fast enough. I chose the 4 wt because I own a home on the North Fork of the Shoshone river in Wyoming and it’s not a very wide river so the 4 wt gives me enough distance. I am thinking of buying the new Phantom Graphene rod. It is supposedly a fast rod that is 3 ounces. A 5wt would be ideal for when I fish the Yellowstone which is a wide river where I need longer casts. Good luck to all!

Awesome rod, I love fishing with it. It brings a lot of joy to me and peace of mind. I had a good time with my family. I just caught my first one of the year. Golden trout I think

Searching for as new rod company (Edge Rods completely bombed on the "warrant" for a broken rod) I looked at Orvis, Davis, G-Loomis, Sage, and Others and decided to try out Moonshine. I ordered the 10' 5wt Vesper and the 8' 4wt Midnight Special.
This is a positive! - The Vesper broke the 3rd piece in the 1st 10 minutes of fishing it and Vesper had a new piece to me ion a week! No one likes break-downs but the warranty dept could not have been better!
I just got back for a very long 15 hour drive one way to chase Artic Grayling in NE BC Canada. Both rods worked famously!! The 4wt handled hopper patters with grace and ease and the 5wt was exactly what I was hoping for handle the indicator and nymph!
Those two rods landed nearly 200 grayling, rainbows, and bull trout over 4.5 days, the look AWESOME, and were just a dream!!

I am on a bucket list trip in Northern BC chasing grayling with my 8' 4wt Midnight Special and LOVING IT. I also brought the 10' 5wt Vesper for indicator fishing and it's preformed flawlessly with a handful of bull-trout to 5lbs to it's credit.
Light weight and sooooo responsive!
