    Fast and Light

This is a nice rod, that is very light and casts well, but the single-foot guides are very small for an 8-weight rod. I compared this 8-weight Phantom rod to a Loomis 8/9 that also has single-foot guides, and the Loomis guides are noticeably larger. The small guides on the Phantom make it difficult to string line, as the leader and loop catch in the guides. I bought an Outcast, which has snake guides, and I like it much better. But this is still a very nice rod for the price, and if the small guides are not a problem, I would otherwise recommend it.
